10. Message from the President:
The President shared a thoughtful-messages:
i. I kindly request that, no member should post messages that could hurt others' feelings. If someone posts something you find irrelevant or an unnecessary message, please don't get irritated. Instead, simply ignore it. Consider that, it is a sign of informing us that, the member who sent it is healthy and active.
This reminds me of a short story. A soldier, away from his wife and children, was serving the country at the border. Every day, he would withdraw one hundred rupees from the ATM. A security guard who observed this daily routine, eventually stopped him and asked, "Why do you withdraw only one hundred rupees every day? You could withdraw two or three thousand at once."
The soldier replied, "I don't even need these one hundred rupees. However, every time I withdraw money, my wife receives a notification. This lets her know that I am alive and safe. The day she didn’t received the notification; she can understand that I am no more. Once the amount with me reaches two thousand, I deposit it back into the bank."
Similarly, let's consider a member's message as a way of letting us know that he is healthy and active.
ii. We are all human, and we don't all have the same abilities or IQ. Additionally, as we age, it's more likely for mistakes to happen in conversation. Please don't search for hidden or deeper meanings in what is said. It's like the saying, "looking for feathers on a hen's egg." If someone says something by mistake, please forgive him and ignore it.
If misunderstandings or differences of opinions arise between two people, be the one to take a step back. Taking one step back doesn't mean you have lost or defeated and the other has won. Instead, see it as a sign that, you respect the other person's opinion and are trying to understand him. Be brave enough to make the first move.
Try to express your discomfort using "I" statements instead of "you" in the statements. For example, instead of saying, "You ignored me," you could say, "I felt that I was left alone. " Similarly, instead of "You made fun of me," you could say, "I felt hurt when I was made fun of."
iii. Regardless of the position or designation we retired from, we are all equal after retirement. In a game of chess, there is a king, a minister, and a pawn only as long as the game is being played. Once the game is over, they are all just pieces and we put back them into the same box. Therefore, let's not focus on our former job titles but instead share the wisdom from our past experiences for benefit of members.
11. Refreshments:
On the occasion of their birthdays, Sri B. Chandra Shekhar Garu and Dr. S. Manohar Rao Garu generously sponsored refreshments and sweets for all members.
12. Vote of Thanks:
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Sri V. Narasimha Rao Garu.
